We are a close-knit community located in Huntly, NZ, who believe in the God who is made evident throughout the entire biblical story. As a result of this, we seek to reflect His character with our lives as we interact with one another and with the world we live in.
Just as God has ‘bridged the gap’ by reaching out to us all in love through the person of Jesus Christ, we too seek to ‘bridge the gap’ and extend God’s love in both word and deed to those in our community.
Our Foodbank, CAP, 828 Youth Group, the Inspire Youth Hub, and our Car Boot sales are a snapshot of this intention, outworking itself within our community.
Murray and Jenny Henderson are the senior pastors of HBC. Murray and Jenny have a heart for God and people connecting with their maker. Having a passion for reaching the lost, they majored in evangelism at Lifeway Bible College, graduating in 1993. They have since pioneered other outreaches in Huntly. For over forty years, they continue to be involved in worship leading, youth work and Christian camping. Murray and Jenny have combined their farming business with community roles and ministry while raising a family. With their three now grown and an itching passion for community change, they were ready for a new calling and challenge when in June 2014 they were called to pastor HBC.
They now help oversee, encourage and equip the amazing teams who make all the ministries happen!
HBC's oversight is a team effort, with a leadership team sharing pastoral care, preaching and oversight roles.
Mark and Juliette attended Huntly Baptist Church for several years and were appointed assistant pastors in 2022. They run a life group for young adults in their home and are part of the worship team.
In addition to working as assistant pastor at HBC, Mark works full-time as a quantity surveyor in Hamilton. Juliette is currently studying counselling and works as the administrator for the Waikato Baptist Association.
They are both well-travelled, with a love of food and a passion for hospitality. In their spare time, they enjoy long walks with their disobedient dog Ollie and various sports and board games.
